I'm feeling generous this month and would like to have another giveaway for two lucky readers!

First up is Olivia bear. She measures about 12 inches tall and is made from a very soft mocha brown fleece. I intended to have her for sale in my shop until I discovered a tiny beauty mark on her belly. I think it may be from a fine point pen or a tiny piece of black lint that was woven in to the fabric at the factory. Either way I think she would still make a great gift to give away or keep for your very own...

 

And then there is a print of one of my latest paintings "Sprout". The image is 5.5 x 5.5 printed on and 8.5 x 11 sheet of fine art paper with a soft texture, similar to watercolor paper. There is a white border around the image for framing. 

This Thursday is Thanksgiving in the States, otherwise known as "Turkey Day" in our home. I'm in charge of mashed potatoes to bring to my in-laws (as I have been for the last 8 years..) This year I'd like to spice them up a bit. I'm hoping you guys can help me out...

One of my latest paintings...I've enjoyed making this little series! I will have both the original and prints available.

bunny blues...

"Bunny Blue" acrylic and graphite on 6x6 canvas

My youngest daughter's daily hide-n-seek game with her bunny is now on day two. Usually, I'm able to locate it right before bedtime either hiding in a pot in the play kitchen or stuck in the toe of my boot....until now. I fear he is gone for good. Last night was a bit rough as she had to drift off to dreamland with "car bunny" (not the same). Keeping my fingers crossed it will miraculously appear!

I love raccoons. I do. 

The day I discovered I was pregnant with Mina, I stepped out the back door and these two cute furry faces caught my eye in the maple tree...baby raccoons! That sweet memory visits me every now and then. Like this weekend, I couldn't resist making these little rascals.

I will have them available in my shop this Friday, November 20 at 9pm (EST) along with more plush & art...Have a great day!!

serendipity...

"Cloud-spotting" acrylic and paper on 8x8 board

I started this piece with the intentions of drawing my cat, who happens to be black sitting on a green knoll with maybe some leaves dropping down or clouds in the sky. I painted the grey background and while it was still drying I started to cut away part of the cat where she sits on the green knoll, to avoid having a crease from the paper underneath across her body. As I pulled away the top layer, the paint and glue underneath came off exposing some graph paper I had glued down to the canvas many layers of paint and quite some time ago. At first I thought, "Oh, NO!" (well, more like some unmentionable words...) until I realized...maybe this isn't such a bad thing. Why not go with it and see what happens? I had made a clean cut with my X-acto knife so when I continued to pull the layer off it didn't tear into the rest of the painting. After the cat was complete, I added a few puffy clouds and...Voila!  I just might make a series of these with various animals and such...

And with the help of my assistant Mina, we have chosen a winner and a name for little wolf....

I will have another wolf (or two) available to purchase. I'm currently sewing plush animals and dolls and should have animals added to my shop later next week, along with some original artwork and prints. Dolls will be available after Thanksgiving.
